This product is handmade by Murano master glassmakers following the ancient tradition of blown glass. Each piece is unique, so images may slightly differ from the actual product.
Material and Processing
The Raffaello amphora is made of borosilicate glass, a material that is harder and more durable than traditional Murano glass and requires higher temperatures to shape. The result is glass with extremely clean, brilliant and bubble-free crystal, a quality that gives the object superior visual purity.
The Master Glassmaker uses the most classic technique to obtain a hollow body: blowing. The borosilicate vial is heated in the flame until it reaches the right plasticity; with a controlled blow, the glass opens, allowing it to be molded into the desired shape. After processing is finished, the amphora is placed in a cooling oven to slowly reach room temperature, ensuring stability and strength. The final floral decoration is handmade with 18-karat pure gold enamel, applied with handcrafted precision.
The Design
The design is reminiscent of ancient terracotta amphorae and inspired by historic glassware held in museum collections. It is a modern reinterpretation in a reduced format that keeps intact the grace and refinement of the great collectibles of the thousand-year tradition of Venetian glass.
